Astrid is 12 when she finds out about roller skating though her best friend prefers ballet slippers to roller skates. She joins up and one of the things she likes about it is everyone's 'tough' attitude and she thinks they are really cool. one day there was a poster saying about a derby. She instantly puts her name down to be in it. When she goes there she sees this really cool girl with rainbow socks who is real good. Astrid soon realises she is not that 'tough' and she has no friends at the derby. Will she go back to her friends or will she be her new self?
I recommend this book for ages 9 - 13 because it has events this age group would relate to and i think that it would be suitable for them.
Do you find graphic novels harder or easier to read than other books?
