The story of New Zealand
It is belived that New zealand was apart of the southern content which was given a name Gondwanaland. The forest of Aotearoa included land mammals, birds, trees and much more. Maori came in canoes from Hawaiki the canoes made its way through the pasific island. The Maoris slowley setteld in adapting to the tropical lifestyle and temprture. It is known for Able Tasman to see the south island but making it impossible to land. On 6th October 1769 a British ship called the endevour captain james cook sighted the east coast of the North island. Captain james vook made  contact with the Maoris. Later on the traders and settlers arived in N.Z as well as the whalers and sealers. Maori would trade flax, food for musskets (guns) around 1830 -40 British and Maori decided to make a treaty. On February 6th 1840 they signed the treaty with lots of disagreements and wrong translation cause wars between maori and the settlers. Around the early 1900s things started to settle. N.Z had their first goverment one of them was called governer Grey. The Maori lifestyle had changed from there on.
This book is very enjoyable but very long aswell. It explains about N.Z history and their lifestyle. I recommend this book for the ages between 11-16.
